What is OBD 2 - Identifying and Locating the port in your vehicle

Updated: Sep 3, 2020

HI. Guys. Have you come across or heard several times where a mechanic or consultant says “have to scan and see “ or “ need to do a scan “ whenever your vehicle comes across a complicated issue or when the famous “ check light “ comes ON.

Well, that is way of communicating with your vehicle with a hand held device/ laptop and it’s computer. The present day vehicles uses the On- Board Diagnostics II (OBD- II) to access the vehicle’s computer for various tasks and diagnosis such as emission readings, identifying faults or system check.

The access point to that computer or ECU is through the OBD- II port located in different places based on the make and model. There are three generations of OBD ports, OBD 1, OBD –II (OBD 2) and OBD 3.

This video will show how to locate the OBD 2 port in a Honda Vezel.
